Date in History and Notes

Hi,

Is there was to change the date option when you record a History Item or enter a new Note in ACT? I'd like it so the date either defaults to the current date and people can't change it or people can either choose the current date or a future date?

We're having an issue with people back dating these items and it's causing problems.

We're on ACT 2009 11.0. The users use rdbs.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

Re: Date in History and Notes

Not an option ... however, there are a couple of things that might help:

1. On the History Tab - Options | Customize Columns:
You can add fields like "Creation Date", "Edit Date", "Edited by"
This will show the real dates... unless they change the date in Windows

2. In Tools | Preferences, you can turn off ability to edit Notes/History ... this means that, which they can do it when entering the history, they can't change it later

Hi,

Thank you so much!

I had already done #2 but #1 is a great idea!

I appreciate it!

If it's really important, it would be possible to design a report via an external report writer (don't think the built-in one can do this) that would alert you to Histories/Notes where the "Creation Date" is later than the "Date" ... and also tell you who is Record Manager as well as the User who Created/Edited the item if different
