Database sometimes won't share

2 computers on a home network. Some days we start them up and the "satellite" computer can't access the database on the main computer. It is properly "shared". Other documents on the network can be shared - just not the pad. file.
Only solution is to shut down both computers, turn off the "Gateway" (main modem that sends the wireless signal on Uverse.), and then restart everything.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Sage ACT! Community. If turning off the "Gateway" allows access, it would seem that something there is blocking the client machines access to the SQL Server on the main computer. You may be able to resolve by adding firewall exceptions to the Gateway. See this Knowledgebase article for a list of recommended program and port exceptions:
