Database not recognized when I open ACT 2008 (v10)

Everytime I open ACT I get the wizard to set up ACT.  Then everytime I need to go restart the SQL SERVER (ACT).  Then when I open ACT I have to reset some preferences on eMail, word processer and chnage view on calendar....How can this be corrected?

Welcome to the ACT! Online Community. Some questions:

- What build of ACT! 2008 are you using? This is found under Help/About ACT!.

- What operating system are you using on your computer?

- Are you part of a network or domain?

- If you are using a shared database, is this happening with other ACT! users in your company?

ACT! by Sage 2008 (10.0) Version 10.0.0.237, Hotfix 1

Windows XP Pro

ACT sits on single computer - no network

Database is not shared

 

Each time I go in I have to modify calendar view (sizing of columns and deselect 'show cleared entries'), set up eMail and Word Processor and resize the lower portion of the contact screen.

 

Please advise.
