I would like to have a shortcut to query on a specific field the same way it is done for let's say "city".
In a company record, you click on lookup then city, and it spawns the lookup companies box with the field set with "City". You just need to type your value and press enter.
Well I want to customize my menu to create an icon so that when I click on it it spawns the lookup companies box with my custom field selected by default. How can I do this please?

Just point the cursor to the field you want to do the lookup on and right click and choose Lookup <field> option from the context menu.

No way that I know of, the right click - Lookup option is the shortcut.

Yes there is easy way - custom commands toolbar.
reference ACT! / Tools / Customise / Menus and Toolbars.
REcommend you be in the ACT! welcome screen when you do this and recommend you only add 2 or 3 custom commands at a time, then go back into that tool if you need to add more. You will be given opportunit to use a icon image or text. - cheers - FSBill
save your favorite queries and add them to your custom commands toolbar. -

You might want to look at our lookup button:

Thank you for the suggestion. This is a good alternative. However if I compare it with Roy's suggestion (right click inside the desired field then click lookup) or with your other useful add on Default lookup field, I find this add on a bit duplicating these 2 solutions. Except that this add on is not free
I tried it. It looks nice. Makes me wonder why Act could not come up with that thing themselves...
