Customize activity using user defined fields

Customize activity using user defined fields

We are a small company with 3 users of Act 2010. One of which is a service technician. I would like for him to be able to select equipment listed in some "user defined fields" that would be the "purpose" of his "service call". Is there any way to create a custom activity like this? Is there an add on to act that will do this?

One possible easy way to do this is to create a custom Activity (perhaps named 'Service Call') and in the Regarding dropdown for that Activity list the products.
