In ACT 2009, I could add items like the monthly calendar to the Nav bar. In ACT 2010, I can't do that, or at least I can't figure out how. Has this functionality been removed?

Yes. With the change to the navigation in ACT! 2010, that functionality no longer exists. You can however add the monthly calendar to your toolbar. Instructions for adding commands to the toolbar can be found in KB Article 14284. The only difference from the steps in the article, is you would choose the View command under the Commands tab instead of the Custom Commands. You should see "Monthly" as one of your options.
