Custom Opportunity Report - Is This Possible?

We're a small investment bank, so we often have engagements where we are working with a company to help them find and acquire another company.  We have developed a large database of clients and target companies stored in Act, and we track our engagements as Opportunities.  We also track acquisition targets in groups/subgroups. 

 

So for example, ABC Company is our client, and they are interested in possibly buying companies X, Y or Z.  We'll have a group called ABC Targets with contacts from X, Y and Z in the group.  We will also have an Opportunity called ABC Buyside that is associated with ABC Targets group.  We have created a custom tab for our contacts that contains text fields for "Status" and "Next Step" and a "Date Updated" field. 

 

What we want to do is produce a status report, grouped by opportunity, that lists the following for each member of the group associated with that opportunity:

 

Opportunity        Target        Status                            Next Step                                   Date Updated

 

ABC Buyside     X Corp        Sent email                   Follow up by phone                 7/14/09

                             Y Corp        Left voice mail             Follow up by phone again     7/15/09

                             Z Corp         Not contacted yet       Send email                               7/21/09

 

DEF Buyside    G Corp        Sent email                    Follow up by phone                 7/14/09

                             H Corp        Left voice mail             Follow up by phone again     7/15/09

                             I Corp         Not contacted yet         Send email                              7/21/09

 

 

Is this possible within Act?  By the way, we're running Act Premium 2008.

As you have it laid out, that isn't possible with the ACT! reports at this time. It probably can be done using a third party report editor such as Crystal Reports. If you are flexible about the layout, a variation of the report could be done with the ACT! report editor.

Thanks Roy, and we are flexible as to the layout.  What would you suggest that can be accomplished with the Act! report editor?

Probably. I didn't see anything in your original posting that would make it impossible. However to make a true assessment I would need to see a copy of the form and how your database was setup to be sure. The ACT! reports are very flexible and can access data from multiple tables. In addition, VB script programming can be added for additional capabilities.
