Creating donor fields in drop boxes

I am a new ACT user, transferring a database of 1200 contacts from MS Access to ACT. Can anyone suggest a best practices format for efficiently tracking donations? I need to track 1) whether or not the contact is a donor; 2) date of donation; 3) amount; 4) whether the donor is giving individually (personal check) or is giving through his church (church check). I thought of making "Donor" a field with the three remaining pieces of info be in a drop down box of some sort, but am not sure that is the best route. Suggestions appreciated. pierce246
