Creating custom queries

I've been asked by a support group to look into correcting data corruptions that may have occurred in their client's system, and whose corruption is likely to similar in each instance (for example, all data in Field A between Date X and Date Y are missing the first letter).

I am looking for a way to query the data to verify the nature of the corruption and to create a custom query to repair the data to its original state.  SQL equivalents needed are for the SELECT and UPDATE commands.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Creating custom queries

If this is widespread in the database, your best bet is to export everything to Excel (or Access), manipulate the data there, and then import back in, or just create a new database.  Otherwise you'll need to explore AddOns or create your own utility.  The functionality you want is not available in ACT! "out-of-the-box".  It's the UPDATE that is the showstopper.  Hope this helps...
