is there an easy was to create and move all of your contacts from a certain house status into a group in bulk or do they need to be done individually?

If I understand your request correctly - adding multiple contacts to a Group in bulk, it can be done by:
- perform a lookup on the desired house status
- from Contact List view > highlight all contacts (hold SHIFT key and select a block of contacts)
- right click in highlighted area > select 'Add Contacts to Group'
- select Group > click OK
