Create a new database or something else?

We put on an annual walkathon and we want to send out mailings to folks who register to walk or make pledges.  We want to keep this group seperate from our general database. 

 

My question is:

-Should we open a seperate database?

-Can we add it to our general database, but somehow mark them as "walkers"?

-If we make a new database, how do I integrate it to my outlook, or is it done automatically?

 

Appreciate the help.

I recommend keeping all together in same database.

Use the ID Status field   ( add a item to your list called: "Walkers")

and 

Group Memberships to identify / group your contact types.  Add a Group call Walkers..
