Having a very very frustrating problem.
I have just installed ACT 2008 Premium ST 10.0.3.182 on Windows XP. It installs fine. I can open the sample database without issue.
When I try to create a new database I get the following error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I have tried a completely clean reinstall including removall all .net installations. I also restarted in selected service mode as per one of the knowledge base articles.
Still no luck.... Any ideas how I can create a new database so I can start using Act?

This can be caused by large DPI settings. Try changing DPI to normal and test creating a new database.
You can follow steps on how to change DPI settings in the following knowledge base article.

I have the same problem. I'm trying to resotre a data base on my new comp.
I get the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error when i try to restore OR when i try to create new database.
My big issue is that i installed ACT under the wrong user. It works fine for the other user, but no the administrator where i get this error.
I tried adjusting the DPI on my vista desktop preferences but it was already set at the lower setting.
any other tricks?
