a remote user was working in Act when the computer was disconnected. When the connection was restored, calender in act no longer showed the days/week/month view. There are only long straight lines going left to right. however the appointment are still there even though you can't see them. Is there a way to restore the template?

Generally I would delete the preferences for the user and then reopen should restore the views correctly.
Start run actdiag and when open go to tools and delete preferences.
