No, quite the opposite. As I mentioned, in Layout Designer within Groups layout, on my custom tab that I copied information from the Contacts layout, when double clicking the grey boxes (pasted from my copy), I am only allowed to choose from the Contacts fields and not the Groups fields. Only when do I select a new field within the Groups Layout Designer and not the double clicking the grey pasted boxes do I have access to the Groups fields only.

I'm having the same problems, but I copied the tab layout from the basic contact layout 1024x768 view to the basic contact layout 1366x768 view. Any updates on making the boxes not grayed out?

Hi Zoe,
There should be no issue with copying fields from Contact layout to Contact Layout as the fields will be pulled from the same place.
Would you be able to advise on the version of Act that you are using? and the steps you have taken to see the boxes go greyed out.

Hi Zoe,
Would you mind posting how you managed to resolve this, as it may help other users.

I double clicked on each of the boxes, while I was in Contact - Design Layout. Then I double clicked on each of the field that these boxes were supposed to represent, before hitting cancel on the popup box.

The discussion below between you and Zoe happened July last year. I'm perplexed as to how it's possible to drag fields from one layout to a different layout. If you change to a different layout, all the fields go with it. The fields tab also is bespoke to each individual layout. How was this done? I've found myself obsessed with layouts and built several when I was messing about. I want to put the best of the different versions into one final layout. But I have no clue how to do that, without taking a screenshot of various elements of different layouts, clicking on F4 to get all the dimensions and positions, then recreating every fragment. The amount of time that would take would be at least a day and not worth it. How can I do it simply by dragging the fields from one contact layout to another as it seems can be done in your response below?
Thanks
Alison
