Copy field content to new field only if empty.

Hello Everyone,

I want to replace the content of a field with the content of another field, but only if the first field is empty. Is there a way to do this?

Cheers,

Kurt

Yes, but not out-of-the-box.  You'll need to get someone to custom program something for you.  Send me an email and I can give you some people/options (I'm one of them, but I'll give you a few)...

There isn't a built-in automated way, but you can do a Lookup on the field itself and use the option 'Does Not Contain Data'.  That will locate all records where that field is empty.  You can then further refine your Lookup if needed by using the Lookup for another criteria and select the 'Narrow Lookup' option.  Once the contact list is populated with the desired contacts, use the Edit > Replace Field function to update those listed contacts.

Note: Always make a backup of your database before making mass changes (File > Backup > Database).
