Hi ACT forum,
I have a client that uses ACT6.0 for his business on an older XP machine that is now nearing the end of its life. I have setup a newer windows 8 desktop and installed ACT! 16.0 as a trial so I could demonstrate the newer software and its benefits. The problem that I’m having is importing his older 6.0 database into the newer 16.0 format, I have tried copying/exporting the database but I have had little success importing both formats (.dbf/.zip) into 16.0.
Is there something I’m missing? I'm new to ACT! but have rather good software cognition searching on Google only offers limited responses.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Regards,
TCS

You're going at this all wrong. Backup his database using the ACT! backup in ACT! 6. Move the ZIP file to the new computer and extract it and then open the database in ACT! 16 using the DBF option and do the conversion as prompted.
