Converting V6 db to V12 - no conversion dialog box presented

I am trying to convert my Act 6 and the conversion dialoge box just will not appear.

Which version of Act! are you trying to convert your Act! V6 database into?

First is to double check your steps - in Act! 2010, are you going to File > Open Database > change the file type to *.DBF and locate your database file.  Then click on Open and the Conversion Wizard should appear.

 

Are you getting any messages when you attempt to open the DBF file with Act! 2010?

 

Have you run the maintenance prescribed in the article (I suspect my database may be damaged)?  If not, be sure and run it - specifically the option for Scan and Repair.  Then attempt the conversion.
