Converting Database Problems

Please help!

We are trying to test ACT 2011, currently running Act 2000 we are test running the upgrade.  We have all the licenses purchased but would like to test it on a few computers before we transfer the entire office.

We are on windows 7.

We converted the database on a desktop, however, we are unable to move the converted database to our server for other users to use: We are being told that files are open on the SQL server.

I don't know how to change this, fix this....

When we try to convert the database on the server, we receive a 15100 error message.  (failed with the operating system error 3) failed to retrieve text for this error)

All we want to do is convert the original database so we can use it with Act 2011 and place it on the server.

Please please help!

Re: Converting Database Problems

Do a file, Backup from the workstation to the server. On the server, do a file, Restore, Restore As.

Don't just copy the files unless.  While this can be done, you would need to either detach the database from SQL using ACTdiag or stop the SQL instance via services.msc.  If you do use one of these other methods instead of restoring a backup, File, Open the .adf and not the .pad file.

Let me know if you need further assistance.  No charge for the first call..
