I'm using Act! 2005 and trying to install older version (Act! 6) dbf files that I used years ago. I get 2 error messages when I try to "open" the databases via the .dbf file selector.
1. Object reference not set to an instance of an object!
then I click "Next" and I get:
2. Could not access the specified database.
I'm using Win 7, 64 bit. I no longer have the disc for Act! 6 (lost?).
I have no idea what, if any, password is associated with these databases since I don't remember setting any passwords. The computers were always used at home office.
I'd like to use ACT! since I've been using it for many years but I'd hate to lose the data.

Do you have all 26 files that make up the ACT! 6 database or just the DBF file? ACT! 2005 likely won't work on Windows 7. Can you open the ACT! demo database?
I suggest you contact and ACC.

Roy,
Yes, I have all 26 files for the database and yes, I can open the demo and have created new databases.
