Converting ACT 2006 data to ACT 2012

Is there a tool or method to convert ALL of our ACT 2006 data, calendar info, etc. to the newer 2012?

Exporting as a comma delimited txt file does not export ALL of our information.

Thank you.

Re: Converting ACT 2006 data to ACT 2012

ACT 2005 and higher all use a sql database consisting of a .alf, a .adf and supplemental files folder and a pad file. The pad file is just a pointer, so you don't need that.

To open in a newer version, just go file, open and open the .adf file.

That will create a new pad file and convert your entire database.

Good idea to read this ACT! Knowledge Base article -

http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/28235

There will be some differences if upgrading on the same machine (you should backup and uninstall the old version first) or installing to a new server and moving the database.

Of course, I assume you mean ACT! 2006 (8.0) and not ACT! 6 ... if you meant 6.0, see:

Re: Converting ACT 2006 data to ACT 2012

Thank you to both responders!

I am indeed converting from ACT! 2006 to ACT! 2012.

The database from 2006 is not very big, and easily fits on a thumb drive (this is being tested and "played with" at the moment. It is not a ready-to-go solution being adopted by our company. The boss is draggin' his feet, but I'll get him there, kicking and screaming until he can actially see the benefits.  Smiley Happy

The new 2012 ACT is on my Windows 7 workstation (at the moment).

Thanks for the reference articles..

Remember to use File | Backup to save to the thumb drive ... don't just try to copy the database file
