Conversion has been halted: Value cannot be null. Parameter name:file

Hello everyone. Hoping to get some help with this.

I initially installed and ran the 30 day trial version of 11 and imported my database without too much difficulty. During the trial period, I continued to use my Act6 database to keep it current and only used the converted ACT11 database to get a feel for the program. Since the trial went well, I decided to purchase a boxed copy from my local Staples.

I uninstalled the trial version and deleted the converted ACT11 database and reinstalled ACT11 from scratch. Installation and registration went without a hitch. However, when I try and convert my database (same one as used for the trial) I get the following cryptic message.

"The conversion has been halted with the following message: Value cannot be null. Parameter name:file"

with the following details given:

Updating database...
The picklist is missing for the field 'Home Postcode'. It will be populated with default data.
  Added Surname Prefix:
  Added Surname Suffix:
Converting Contacts...
       1334 of 1334 converted.
Converting Users...
       1 of 1 converted.
Converting Groups...
       7 of 7 converted.
Converting Activities...
       10 of 10 converted.
Converting Notes and Histories...
Unable to convert the attachment 'C:\Documents and Settings\***name removed***\My Documents\Word\2004\Docs\**name removed**.DOC': the file is missing.
Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: file

What I have tried:

- Ran the actdiag utility - all green checks

- Database Maintenance from within Act6 - compress and reindex

- Tried a number of different aged backup versions of the same database

- Deleted the attachment referenced in the details above.

If I open and convert a small test database (30 records), it converts sucessfully.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Joe

Problem resolved! Whew!

Spoke to tech support (thanks again Anthony) and was able to solve problem by using ActDiag to increase Act! timeout values.

cheers

Still, there is no reason to stop a 6 hour conversion process for 1 file.   The next version of ACT! should contain an option to ignore the error and keep on converting.
