If I enter a contact name similar to"Ellen, Neal, Kate and Lindsey Smith", I get the dialog box that allows me to select the first name, middle name and last name. I do so (Ellen, Neal, Kate and Lindsey as the first name and "Smith" as the last name), but my selections are not holding. In this case, Neal keeps appearing as the first name and Ellen keeps appearing as the last name. I have many contacts like this.
I tried putting the first and last name fields on my layout so I could edit them directly, but those fields are seemingly not editable.
How can I get the correct data into the first name / last name fields?

What specific version of ACT! are you using? Help \ About ACT! to find out.

So I see that if you get rid of the commas it will work for you. It appears to think that your format is last name comma given names if you include a comma. The first name in your string becomes the surname, the next name becomes the first name and the others are middle names. (Just a guess.)

I don't know if it will help but there is a service pack available for that version.
