How can I consolidate two companies into one?
Thanks,
Alex

I'm thinking it depends on how much history or anything that is attached to any one company profile.
I don't know of any way to do a bulk migration like you described, but if the number of duplicates is not large, it is a pretty easy matter to merge the contacts of one company to another.
1. Look up all the contacts in Company 1
2. In the list view, highlight (or select) all the contacts
3. Under contacts on the top row, click "Link to Company"
4. In the next dialogue box scroll down to "Company 1 Inc." and select that company.
At this point, all the contacts in Company 1 are now linked to Company 1 Inc. instead.
Oh, this does assume that each company has a companies entry. If it doesn't then ....
Follow steps 1 & 2
3. Under Edit, select replace field
4. Enter "company" under replace contents of
5. Enter "Company 1 Inc." in the value field
6. press OK and OK
Hope this helps you.

A number of solutions go through my mind, but I think the question needs a bit more color. Can you explain what is happening?

I have some duplicate companies on the database. For example, there is "Company 1" and "Company 1 Inc.". I want to consolidate them into one company so that all contacts from "Company 1 Inc." would fall under "Company 1".
I'm sure there's a simple solution to this problem, but I wasn't able to find it so far. I was dropping drag & dropping companies into each other, but that just makes one company a division of another.
