Connecting to a Database on two Networked Windows 7 computers

When I try to connect to a database on two networked Windows 7 computers, I receive an error  stating that the database cannot be found on the connecting computer.  The connecting computer has administrative authority to the computer with the database.

Re: Connecting to a Database on two Networked Windows 7 computers

The problem could be any of several different things: database not set to share, bad a bad PAD file, etc. What is the operating system on each computer?

Re: Connecting to a Database on two Networked Windows 7 computers

Are you running a software firewall like Windows firewall?

The firewall is turned off on the target computer.

Re: Connecting to a Database on two Networked Windows 7 computers

The firewall would need to be off on both systems. The most likely cause is the UAC. With the UAC on even an administrator login isn't really an administrator unless you start the program by right clicking on the program icon and selecting run as administrator.

Re: Connecting to a Database on two Networked Windows 7 computers

I have the firewall turned off on both computers and still get the error

"Could not find a database called "ABC Services" on host "Ron" computer"

The host in the error above is the computer trying to connect.  Most network connections protocols wouldn't refer to that machine as the host but as the client.
