Company Name Question

I'm trying to figure out what's the most logical way to enter a company that has one legal entity name and a dba (doing business as)

How do I enter that in act?

The DBA in the Company Name then where do i put the other name?

Re: Company Name Question

Is this a regular thing for you or just a few rare ones?
Which are you most likely to want to look them up by?

Re: Company Name Question

Just a few. We will most likely look it up by DBA.

I'm just trying to get Peachtree and Act somewhat simliar before I use the link. I've heard the ACT-Peachtree link will create a mess if the company names aren't identical (even capitilization)

Re: Company Name Question

If only a few, not worth a separate field. Maybe make the company:
DBA (Legal Entity)

So it will sort by DBA, but a search "contains" will find either.

If it was more common, you'd create a separate field.... but this would make searching a bit more tricky

Re: Company Name Question

What about a parent company record for one (I don't know that it matters as long as you are always consistent) and then a "sub-division" company record for the other (likely the DBA?)

Re: Company Name Question

no, that doesn't make sense. It's not a division it is the company, just an alias.

Right - got that.

Thinking outside the box here...
