Changing the envelope size

I have Act 2007.

I took the standard envelope size #10 (3.xx by 9.xx).  I only want to change it to a 6x9 envelope size.  How do I do this?  I was trying to keep the custom fields from the #10, so I didn't have to create a new envelope.  Haven't figured out to do this yet.

In the properties, I could only see a "height" field, which I changed to 6.0.  My return address prints, but my TO address prints nothing.

Do the printer setting overwrite the Act settings?  How do they interact?

Re: Changing the envelope size

Try saving it as a report then you can change the paper size. Then you can save it back to an envelope and it will retain the paper size.

Re: Changing the envelope size

Change the paper to 8.5 X 11 and then use the margin settings to create a 6 X 9 space within the letter size.

Re: Changing the envelope size

Wow, you are fast!

Where do I do this?

In the "edit template" of the Report Designer?

In the Properties of the Priner at print time?  But I wonder if I can change the margins?

In Print Preview?

Or somewhere else?

Thanks.  I'll try it on Monday.  I took the opportunity to view your website also.

Re: Changing the envelope size

Unfortunately, at least in Act 2007, Page Setup (withing Edit Report Template) does not allow you to change the Paper Size.

Since I started with an Envelope #10, it shows that and is grayed, not permitting a change.  The margins are changeable.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Thank you. This worked wonderfully and got me out of quite a quandry. I wonder how a typical user would know this back door approach, if it weren't for great people like you sharing their expertise! You rock!

Re: Changing the envelope size

[ Edited ]

Roy, I followed these instructions and get a great preview and printout from the manual feed on paper (8.5x11) when I run a 5.75x8.75 envelope through the same manual feed which feeds from the middle of the paper tray the text moves 2 in. closer and 1-1.5 inches higher to the backing edge of the "paper" , what am I doing wrong?

Re: Changing the envelope size

It sounds like you need to adjust the page margins to correct the text placement.
