Changed network name, now cannot open ACT on either main computer or networked computer. Help!

[ Edited ]

Recently, we changed the network name of a computer where the database is stored. We can see the file is still there, but we are unable to open the database.

to open, you just click on the PAD file, correct?

the .alf and .adt files seemed to have disappeared?

The PAD is just a pointer (you can open it with Notepad) ... changing the machine name means it's not pointing at the right place

Try opening the PAD in Notepad and editing the machine name to be the new name or IP of the server. It's more tricky if you are using sync. See this ACT! Knowledge Base article -
