Change History Record from eMail Sent to Linkedin Mail Sent with Smart Task

First, I have not been a user of Smart Tasks, so the question may be simple.

 

Frequently communication with a customer or prospect is done through LinkedIn Messenger.  Of course that isn't picked up in ACT.

 

The only way I've been able to figure out how to create a record that would update Latest Activities - E-mail is to do the following:

 

  • Write the eMail in LinkedIn and send it
  • Copy the content of the LinkedIn Message
  • In ACT, create a history using "Other" and "Email Sent"
  • Paste the content from Linkedin
  • Click OK

That updates the last eMail field with today's date.  But to keep the history accurate, I then do the following:

 

  • Double click on the eMail history
  • Change Activity Type to LinkedIn (a customer activity entered into ACT)
  • Result is already "Sent Message"
  • Click OK.

It would be nice if a Smart Task can do the second step for me.  Your suggestions would be welcomed.

The way to create this history record is very recursive - GOOD IDEA and thank you for sharing it

 

The thing is...  the type of record that is used to affect in smart tasks are...

I do not see how to bring information that corresponds to a history records...

 

The other thing is that I do not know if the Trigger should affect all the history records that are entered as Other and Mail sent

 

It reminds me that there are CRM solutions with BPM Business Processes Management - it may be that... in this type of BPM solution... this task can be automated

 

The type of story should be exactly LinkedIn sent and the field that should be updated should be LinkedIn (Log in the email) but this requires a special development in a new Act! version
