Cant Backup ACT! by Sage Database

Hi Im trying to do a backup of my Act! database and I cant.

 

It says this:

 

"Acess to the path 'D:\RTP\Data Shared\ACT\RTPMH-databasefiles\Layouts\Basiccomponentlayout- 800x600.aly' is denied"

 

Do you guys have any idea what this is?

Before we look at all the folder permissions can you go to tools, Database Maintenance, and tick Share Database if it is not ticked already.

 

Worth a try before we get to involved.

There are a number of reasons you might be getting this message but try this first 

 

The ALY file is the Company Layout File and the message you are getting is indicating the file does not have the correct permissions for copying.

 

In ACT go TOOLS, DESIGN LAYOUT, Chose COMPANY, 

 

ACT will now open a company layout in design mode, make no changes but go to FILE, OPEN, COMPANY LAYOUT, Say NO to do you want to keep changes.

 

** You will now see a selection of files and the one you want is Basic Company Layout - 800x600.aly.

IMPORTANT - RIGHT CLICK this file and select properties, Make sure that Read Only is not ticked. Now select Security and make sure that users and everyone has full control, do this for each type shown. Say OK.

 

Now try backing up again.   If you wish to you can also get to the layout folder by browsing with explorer and just follow the section starting with **

 

If you get a failure a second time on a different file you may need to change the permissions on the whole Layout folder.

Hi ive changed the permissions but other error apears,

 

"The File item could not be opened for reading.

Type Xceed.FileSystem.DiskFile

FullName: D:\RTP Data\Shared\ACT\RTPMH-databasefiles\Attachements\tmpC8FD.msg"

Actualy it worked now i changed a user to be admin, so i could login with the admin in windows and act!
