Cannot open Database - SQL server version

I have recently installed ACT! 2010 on my windows 7 PC. The installation went without incident.

The database file I have been using with my previous version of ACT (v8) sits on our small business server. When trying to open this file I received an error that the SQL server version on the host needs to be upgraded to 2005 or later. I have since purchased SQL Server 2005 and upgraded the server, and I am still getting the same error.

I tried applying Hotfix 4 to see if that would help, but it has not fixed the problem.

I would appreciate any advice, thanks.

Re: Cannot open Database - SQL server version

Have you installed Act! 2010 on your server?  It sounds like Act! 2006 (V8) is still on the server.  You will need to uninstall V8 and then install 2010 so that it can install the ACT7 instance within the SQL Server 2005 program.  You will then open the database on the server to update it to the 2010 format.  After that you will be able to access it from your workstation.
