Cannot backup my ACT! 2012 database

I routinely backup my ACT! 2012 database.  However, I am now not able to do so and have been getting the following message.  I don't have any idea what to do to fix the problem and would appreciate any suggestions so I can continue my backups:

"The following error occurred during backup.  This backup was cancelled.  Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'sys.syscommittab' with unique index 'si_xdes_id'.  Failed to flush the commit table to disk in dbid 30 due to error 2601.  Check the errorlog for more information.  BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.  PRC_MAINT_BACKUPDB:  ERROR EXECUTING DATABASE BACKUP STATEMENT.  The statement has been terminated."

I have run maintenance on the database, and it didn't help.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thank you.

Bobs

There is a link relating to the 2601 error on this page:

Hopefully it will help you solve your problem.

Re: Cannot backup my ACT! 2012 database

How do I determine whether I am running the standard or express version of SQL2008R2_* so that I update properly?

Re: Cannot backup my ACT! 2012 database

Hi Mark,

I am also not able to backup the database, getting the same message as Mark except it is in dbid 7 instead. Will your suggested fix be OK for this error as well?

Thanks,

Re: Cannot backup my ACT! 2012 database

Hi,

The dbid is just a database identifier, so I would think your issue is the same.

Re: Cannot backup my ACT! 2012 database

I have received the same error mentioned at the beginning of this thread. I have gone through everything suggested. I receive a "success" message from the ACT Diagnostic step but still am unable to backup my database.

When I attempt to run the SQL .bat file i received this message in the cmd window:

Msg 229, Level 14, State 5, Server (my server name), Line 1

The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'act_active_database', database ' master', schema 'dbo'.

Type in the name of your main <Publisher> database from the list above

--my database isn't listed above, but I enter the name of my database and receive the following message:

Msg 18456, Level 14, State1, Server (my server), Line 1

Login failed for user '(my user name'.

Press any key to continue...

--I press any key and the cmd window closes.

I would appreciate any help what-so-ever! Thank you!

Re: Cannot backup my ACT! 2012 database

I am also getting this error message. I have read this article to help solve my problem. http://kb.swiftpage.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/28141.

Since I am running version 12 I can not use DBFixer and have to manual upgrade SQL Server 2008 R2. Is there any issues with upgrading this SQL Server 2008 R2 to the latest verision which is SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3?
