Cannot add company in Act 2012

Cannot add company in Act 2012

Running Act 2012 in a Windows 7 workgroup environment; database is on one workstation and shared among four users. We are unable to add companies to the database; if we go to the New Company page and type a new company name (with or without additional information), clicking the Save button is not saving the company record in the database. There are 0 companies and 0 divisions displayed (The database originated as an Act 2000 database and was converted by Swiftpage. I don't know if that might be a source of the problem.). Can someone suggest what is wrong and how to fix this problem? Let me know if you need any addtional information. Thanks in advance for your replies.
