Hi, I have three users who were able to access the shared database (all using ACT Premium 2011) fine. The shared database is on a server running SBS 2005 and I have ACT installed on the server as well. I installed Syn Services on the server and enabled it and that has resulted in none of the users being able to access the shared database on the server anymore. I disabled the service, but still no one can access the shared database anymore. Note that the users are running ACT without the SQL server option on their laptops, so there was no local data on their laptops previously.

Which version of SBS are you using? I don't recall a "2005" version... There was 2003, then 2008 and now 2011 as I recall...
Anyway, sounds like the share setting got turned off on the server's ACT! database... Check on the tools menu in ACT! on the server, Database Maintenance -> Make sure Share Database is checked...
What were your plans with the sync service if all of the machines do not have SQL installed?
