ACT! 2006 and Vista are not compatible.
What OS is the machine that cannot access the database? Try editing the PAD with the IP address instead of the machine name.

Is an XP machine. All the other machines access the adf/adl fine with the pad as-is. Here's the pad content:

This particular machine just stopped accessing the mdb file for no apparent reason. Was working it Act! and went to look up an entry. Could not pull it up, so closed the program and re-opened. No connection! Still had Internet, Outlook, and could even access the server from Windows Explorer. Drilled down to the actual adf/adl/pad files and tried to launch from there. Even though we could get to it, Act! still gave error.
