Can you use expressions in Layout Design in act 2010

 Such as {field}VAT AMOUNT = {field}TOTAL GROSS * {field}CURRENT VAT

I want to do this in the Layout Design not report design. Im pretty sure it cant be done in 2009 just wondering if 2010 fixes this

Still not possible in ACT 2010 - but there are a number of add-ins that allow calculations on fields and the result to be dropped into another field. Check out:

as an example of what can be done with an add-in.

Re: Can you use expressions in Layout Design in act 2010

Thanks Trevor, that does the trick, its a bit of a pain having to assign 1 formula per field but I have got it working. They should let you assign muliple fields because I have 4 target fields and 4 blocks of fields I want to copy from. Unfortunatly this means I have to write 16 different calculations depending on which of the 4 blocks of 4 i am copying data from.

It would be so much easier to just write 4 calculations, one for each of the target fields, but hey, its working so I shouldnt complain too much.

Once again many thanks.

Paul - drop the folks at Exponenciel a line with your comments. I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past to suggestions. Glad to hear you got it working.
