Can you password protect a single contact?

In ACT 2009 Version 11 (ACT 10) can you password protect a single contact? I thought there was a way to do this in a previous version of ACT that I used to use. Thank you.

Re: Can you password protect a single contact?

Which version of ACT1 do you have please?

ACT! 2008 version 10

or

ACT! 2009 version 11

Standard or Premium ?

What about using the Private Access Level option?

Thanks - FSB

Re: Can you password protect a single contact?

I have ACT Version 11.

What I would like is that when you look up a contact, you cannot see anything but the company Name or Contact Name, unless you put in an additional password. Can't figure out how to do this. Your lead led me to this:

  1. Do one of the following, depending on the number of records you want to change:
  • For a single contact: Open the Contact Detail view.
  • For multiple contacts: From the Contact List, click Tag Mode. Select contacts.
  1. Right-click, point to Edit Contact Access, and then click Make Contact Private.

I did this, but as near as I can tell, it didn't actually do anything.

What I want is to secure some contacts in case someone gets ahold of my computer and it is open. Would like to password protect the most private information a second time. If anyone knows how, please explain.

My best,

Poweruser.

Re: Can you password protect a single contact?

Initially it sounds like you just need to password protect your ACT! database ?

If you are away from your pc, close ACT!.. or turn off your pc..? - regards fsb

Re: Can you password protect a single contact?

I have already protected my computer with a password.

I have protected ACT with a password.

Now I would like an additional level of protection where I could password protect a single contact. The Company and Contact name can show but then I want all other fields and notes to be password protected with an addional password. Is this possible?

My best,

It might be possible with a custom addon but otherwise, no.
