We have v2009. I know I can make it sync by clicking. But I would like it to sync automatically withut the users having to initiate it.

This can be done by creating a task with the ACT! Scheduler. You can access the Scheduler under the Tools menu. This would be done individually by each user. For more information, please see the following Knowledgebase article:
The ACT! Scheduler can also be used to schedule automatic backups, maintenance, and remote synchronization (if applicable)
