Can't open Database

New here! Tried opening my database this am and get a warning window....

"Can not access your database..... ck your Network connection to verify database server is available"

HELP....no idea what to do. Sage CSR is of no help.

Welcome to the Sage ACT! Online Community. The most common reason for this error is that the SQL Server service is not started. Please see this Knowledgebase article for the solution:

Thanks! The Act7 Server was 'stopped'!  Maybe stopped when I got an automatic Microsoft upgrade??

All's well now!

 

Why SAGE CSR couldn't give this help, without charging me for Chat time, is not impressive, IMO.

Since semi retirement.... and my company going to Quick Books database, I no longer use Act as intended.

Now it's pretty much an address book. Smiley Happy  But it's my only source for that data so...important to me.

Glad to hear you got the issue resolved. Yes, the most common reason for the SQL service to stop is a Microsoft security update. If you don't have a support plan, then your best resources are this forum and our Knowledgebase.

Thanks again!

 

Since you have been so helpful.....any idea how I could get ahold of a Symantic Act 4.x Disk?

I used that program sucessfully for yrs, till I had a major crash. Lost my DB because I could not find my disk/

Would still love to have it back on my screen.

The only way you might to get a hold of 4.0 install would be through an ACT! Consultant. You can post your request on this board in the forum: http://community.act.com/t5/ACT-version-6-x-Prior/bd-p/act_6x. I have also seen some for sale on eBay.

i was receiving the "Error accessing database"running w-10  act 2016

 

I simply did a system restore to yesterday. All OK!
