I am using ACT 2008 with Word set as my default word processor.
When I go to Write-Letter I get the error message "Word cannot save this file because it is already open elsewhere (Cocuments and settings.......\Normal.dot)"
But, I do not have Word open?
Please help if you can! What is normal.dot?

I dont know the exact solution but it is a Word problem(not sure what version you use).
If you google your error msg, there is a lot of info about it such as http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211632
What happens if you
do your save with Ctrl-S instead of File | Save or File | Save A ?
Also search the ACT! Support Knowledgebase on your error msg
articles such as

If you open the tsk manager you'd probably see winword.exe running even when word isn't open.
You can search your PC for Normal.dot files and rename them, this will allow them to rebuild and likely get rid of the error message.

Still having the same problem.
When I check task manager, winword is not running.
I changed normal to normalrev.
A new normal.doc was created.
Any other suggestions? Could it be caused by Outlook running?

You are correct winword.exe is running. There are multiple instances of it even when I close down MSWord. I tried renaming normal but I am still having the problem.
