Can't install ACT!2010

I'm running a P3 3.0 GHZ with 2 GB of RAM with Windows XP Pro SP3.  Someone installed the MS Office 2010 beta on my machine.  It played havoc with several programs so I uninstalled it.  ACT hasn't opened since then.  (I also had to reinstall Outlook 2007.) I uninstalled ACT, got a fresh download from the Sage web site and tried to reinstall ACT.  I keep getting the following message:

 

Prereq.Exceptions.KeyDoesntExistException:Exception of type 'Prereq.Exceptions.KeyDoesntExistException' was thrown.at Prereq.AccessINI.GetValue(String Key, String ValueName) at Prereq.Program.Main(Strin[] args)

 

I have a single user license and no support so I'm stuck!  It would be nice if ACT would do a remote install but I guess that's not an option. 

 

Any help you can offer is appreciated.

In response to my own post: I spent 1 1/2 hours on with a support tech last Friday.  He was also remotely connected to my machine.  He tried diligently to resolve my issues but couldn't since I wasn't logged in as adminstrator.  This past Monday I logged back on as adminstrator and reconnected with support from ACT!  After 5 hours and 15 minutes of remote connection and countless reboots they resolved by problems.  As I understand it a large part of the problem was that due to numerous upgrades of ACT! (from version 6 to 7 to 8 to 9 and now 10) not all of the files were removed that should have been during the previous uninstalls.  There were issues with .NET Framework and the SQL server which had to be uninstalled and reinstalled.  Most of the old ACT! files had to be removed individually (which took quite some time).  This may not be the forum for this but I feel compelled to let everyone know that the support I received from Sage was exemplary.  The first tech had to get a product specialist but between the two of them they remedied my problems and I'm up and running once again.  KUDOS to tech support!

I have seen this error message a few times, also it can be because of corrupted WMI
