Can't export to ExcelA

ACT 12.1.181.0 Hot Fix 1.  Can't use the 'Export to Excel' feature.  Error message is:

"Unable to cast COM object type".  Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Can't export to ExcelA

Which version of Excel are you running?

Generally when these errors are presented they will include an ID number, can you provide the error (at least the ID number)?

If you are running Office 2003, try running the Detect and Repair function within Excel (Help > Detect and Repair).

If you are running Office 2007, try running the Office Diagnostics tool (found in the Programs list under the Microsoft Office listing).

If you previously had Office 2007 installed but have reverted back to Office 2003, here is an article that describes the resolution for this type of error (article is specifically for Word, but can be applied to Excel also): Unable to cast Com object error

This is a new computer that had a trial of Office 2007 installed, although I never used it.  Maybe that is the problem.

BTW, what is the Excel equivalent to normal.dot

Re: Can't export to ExcelA

Having had Office 2007 on it previously is most likely the culprit here, having left remnants behind.  Did you look for the 'Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies' in your Add/Remove Programs list?  Or check the values for the assembly file listed in the error?

There isn't an equivalent to Word's Normal.dot file for Excel.  Just FYI - the equivalent for Outlook is Extend.dat.
