Can't Remove OLD ACT! - in order to install NEW

This old guy can't figure something out.  After getting great help from Mike (GL) on solving another problem, and following the suggestion to upgrade from ACT 2005 - I've run across a problem.   When I try to install the new version, it tells me that there is another version (Act 2005) still in the computer so the installation stops.   I've tried Add/Remove but that doesn't work - I've tried deleting through Command Prompt, but alas neither - works...  I had thought that there was a program that could be used in DOS to totally eliminate the program -
Any suggestions?

Hi Jimmy,

Try Mike's manual uninstall instructions found in this thread: http://community.act.com/sage/board/message?board.id=ACT&message.id=612&query.id=31280#M612

Also check out the KB articles linked from PMTate's post at: http://community.act.com/sage/board/message?board.id=ACT&message.id=140&query.id=31290#M140

Thanks Jason - I'll try those - but I'm a neophyte in the technical sense -
