Make sure the folders aren't inheriting permissions when you change them.

Yup, went to the Properties, Security, Advanced, Change Permissions, and unchecked the box that says "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent.
Still no go.

Try going into the Attachments folder with Windows Explorer. Turn on or show the Attributes column. make sure they are all marked A or AI. it there is one that is not, right click on it to get to properties. There may be a box saying "unblock" something I never noticed before but has been cropping up periodicall.

WOW! That did it! I had two files in there that didn't have the A, a thumbs.db I didn't really need and some .xlxs file that was truncated. Deleted them both, remote database worked.
