I have 2 entries for Country
when I started my Db several years ago I made Canada my default for Country.
I can not edit that to USA. The field does not allow me access. How can I fix that? Thanks

Method 1
Backup your database. While restoring the backup choose 'United States' as the country.
Method 2
Tools>Define fields
Edit the country field
Click Next
Set default value to 'United States'

The Country field is a system field and therefore behaves differently to most fields in the database. For some reason that's beyond me once a default has been set in the Country field ACT locks this in and you cannot change it.
The only way of overcoming this is to create a new database with all the same fields but with USA as the default (or possibly no default!) with all the same users and then do a database to database import.

Thanks Ya'll - I'll try the Copy Database process. That is a dumb problem. It's been their many years.

I've tried that. But must be doing something wrong. I'll keep trying.

Copying the database will bring in the default field. You need to create a new database with the same fields and users and then import data from the old database.

I tried again.
I made a "Copy" with only me as the sole contact. All the fields were there.
Then I tried ti "IMPORT" my 'PAD' file.
I got an ERROR message "The SGL Database instance is unavailable".
I've used Act for probably 20 Plus years. A love-hate relationship. It has always been prone to idiosyncrasies at levels the common user can't navigate. It should be mounted on the KISS system.
Don't know where to turn. Thanks for your ear.
