Can not open reports

ACT pro 2011 hotfix 4 Windows 7 - 64 bit "The report could not be opened by ACT"

Yet reports works on the Windows 7 - 32 bit machines.

All reports or just one? How about labels and envelopes?

No reports will open but labels and envelopes work.

You have a problem with your list of reports because that isn't possible. The labels and envelopes are the same as the reports, they only have different extensions. You can change the extension on a label or envelope template to RPT and open it as a report. You may have mixed in a set of the ACT! 6 reports and that's what you're trying to open

Why then do reports work on the win 7 32 bit computers running the same database?

They do work on 84-bit Windows 7. that's what I run and I have no problems.

Did you ever get this resolved?  I'm unable to open any reports in Act either, and I'm on a 64bit machine.

That isn't a problem with the 64-bit operating system. I have no problems with the reports and I run on 64-bit Windows 7. Try right clicking on a report template and choose Open With and see what it defaults to. My guess is that some other program you've installed uses the RPT extension and is registered as the default program for that extension.

When I right click it and select the "Open with" it show Sage Act as the default program.   I did update my Act to SP1 Hot Fix 6 (why it says there are no updates when you check... and there have obviously been a lot of updates is another issue).    The problem persists however.   I still can't run any report.

 

When I do the right-click above and manually select Act I get an error "The report contained unrecognized elements and could not be loaded".   I'm just trying to run the standard reports from the reports menu.

That sounds like it might be an ACT! 6 report.
