I purchased a new computer last year which came with Windows 8.1. I tried to move my ACT Pro 2013 to the new computer (before the compatibility release). It would not open or creae any database due to SQL server issues. I kept the old computer and used it to run ACT.
I am again trying to move ACT to the Windows 8.1 machine due to stability issues with the old machine. I followed the KB articles. I manually removed ACT7 SQL server, manually removed SQL server 2008 R2, manually reinstalled both, installed ACT Pro v17. (I also followed all the other instructions about changing UACs and firewalls, etc).
When I try to open the demo database I get the error that "The "(local)" computer could not be reached because the IP adress "" could not be resolved...." I checked to see if the ACT7 server was running. I cannot be started due to specific error code 17058.
I have followed the KB articles. I need help. I have been using ACT! since 2001 and do not want to change.
