I've got a client who is having some issues with SQL Server and .net Framework, and until I've got those resolved, his ACT-based backup will not work. What I'd like to do is do a midnight backup of ACT! using a batch file.
He normally shuts down ACT! at the end of his day, but in case he doesn't, I want to terminate ACT! using the "taskkill /IM" command, then turn off the ACT SQL service, do the backup, then turn on the ACT SQL service.
Is there any danger in shutting down ACT! this way? (I'm not using the /F to force it closed).
