Re: Can A Contact Be Linked To More Than One Company?

You can only LINK a contact to one company, but you may ADD a contact to any number of Companies.

I like to give an example of a lawyer working for various companies.  He has his own firm, but then he works with other companies on contractual or on-call basis.

TIP:  When scheduling with this person in regards to another company, be sure to use Associate With when scheduleing the activity or history with the other company.  This keeps the activities concerning the various companies together properly.

Re: Can A Contact Be Linked To More Than One Company?

Thanks for defining the restriction on linking; however, I'm not sure what you mean by adding a contact to several companies.  In the example of the lawyer, is a new contact record being created when adding to other companies?

That would raise the question of future management.  Can we take it from another point of view?

I am a reseller.

I sell to companies.  "Company A"

I also working with reps from manufacturers. "Mfg A"

I want to associate a rep for Mfg A to a Company A for now.  But, next year, the Mfg A Rep is no longer assigned to Company A, and I need to remove him and associate him now with Company B.

How is that done?

Yes, you should ADD him to the Company not LINK him.

Go to the record, right-click, select Add Contact to Company, select the company from the left to the right and click okay.

You can also add them to a Company on the Groups/Companies tab.  Change the drop down to Companies and Divisions, click on Add Contact to Company to the right.
