Thanks for the note.
I have the modem operational and can dial out but when someone calls me, it does not recognize the incoming call and bring up the caller's record.
I don't see anything else under setting up the dialer that would relate to this. What am I missing?

The ACT! Preferences recognise the dialer. It is the software that comes with the dialer that enable the functionality. Check with the manufacturer.

It includes a utility to check the functions of the dialer.
