Backup glitches

I have ACT 2011 Pro single use.  I backup to another computer on a small network.  The set up for the scheduler has  flaws. 1) If you fail to enter a User Name the software acccepts the commands but the back up fails. 2) It will not backup over the network, only to the drive on the same computer.  As this is a notebook subject to the risks of travel  not a good idea.  3) All the data on my notebook is automatically backed up but restoring ACT from this backup is painfully hard.

Re: Backup glitches

For item 2, you need to change the Login details for the service (in services.msc) to an account with full access to the database and to the folder on the machine you're saving to

Re: Backup glitches

Thanks Mike.  I looked at it in services.msc but this goes beyond my skill level.  I had a 1/2 hour session with an ACT customer support rep (Kumar) yesterday and he was unaware of this possibility.  If I have time I will phone ACT cusomer service again and ask them.  Backup across a network should be transparent.
